RENOVATION PROCESS

Stage One: Letter of request
Please submit a letter to the housing committee, requesting consideration for a housing renovation.

Stage Two: Housing Inspection
Upon receipt of your request, your letter shall be given to the housing committee (council) for approval. We then arrange for the building inspector to visit your home for the purpose of determining what the work order will contain and the projected cost for completing the work order, which will be your renovation work order. ***If your work order is going to cost more than the allowable subsidy … the homeowner will be required to secure the funding over and above prior to an application being submitted to INAC.

Stage Three: INAC Application
Upon completion of your work order, your work order will be presented to the housing committee for recommendation to the council. Upon approval by the Band Council, an application will be prepared and submitted to INAC for funding.

Stage Four: INAC Approval
Upon approval by INAC for your renovation work order, they will issue you a project number,

Stage Five: Renovation subsidy from INAC
The Gitanmaax Band Housing Dept will send you a letter advising you that your project has been approved and the Gitanmaax Band has received the funding for your subsidy.

Stage Six: Contractor Quotes
The homeowner will decide on which contractor they choose to complete the renovation work order. Quotes and time lines must be provided for every item on the work order.

SOCIAL HOUSING
Income testing is mandatory as part of our operating agreement with CMHC, should you have any changes in your family profile you need to arrange a meeting time with Monica Green to complete income testing! Should your family unit size grow or decrease it is your responsibility to contact the Housing Dept. for a new contract to be signed adding the new person(s) to your agreement. Should you be on Social Assistance and have working people in your unit the Housing Dept. will base rent on 25% of the working individual.
