Gitanmaax Band Office - COVID-19

The Gitanmaax Band Council and Staff remain committed to keeping our friends, families, and Community members safe. The Band Office staff, as they have done through-out the COVID-19 pandemic, will continue to operate under limited public access and will continue to provide all required services.

Since the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have taken the necessary precautions to keep our community members safe, by limiting public access to the Band Office. However, our staff continues to work to meet the needs of our community members online, by phone, and through limited access from behind the locked doors. The Gitanmaax Band Staff is proud of what we have accomplished together, and we want to thank Gitanmaax for their continued support over the past months.

As the Gitanmaax Band office staff, we want to ensure the community that our continued commitment is to maintain the highest safety standards. We have put new operating practices in place to ensure physical distancing and implemented new safety protocols with everyone’s well being as our primary concern:

Gitanmaax Band Office

Prominently displayed signs outside Band office will clearly state the process for accessing services.

“Signage to state everyone must wear a mask and hands sanitize prior to entering the office.”

“If you are sick or exhibit any COVID-19 symptoms, we encourage you to please stay home.”

Limited entry: To respect physical distancing, a limited number of “essential staff” will be allowed inside the Band Office at a time. Should you need to come to the Band office, please call (250) 842-5297 be hand. Preference will be given to those who have booked an appointment. Creation of a secure drop box for documents was put in place to encourage this process rather than in person meetings.

Mandatory Masks: everyone is strongly encouraged to wear a mask in and around the office.

Online (email) & Phone Services: Our staff will endeavour to meet all your needs, online or over the phone. If you are experiencing any cold-like symptoms or would prefer services from the safety of your home, please use one of these methods.

Front Window/Plexi-shields: Front Window or Plexiglass barriers at frontline counter and desk to ensure health protection is in place.

Physical distancing markers: There will be “physical distancing markers” placed to ensure at least two metres (6 feet) of space between clients and our staff members. We will ask that they respect physical distancing throughout the visit.

Restricted self-service: To help keep everyone safe, we will be restricting access to washrooms.

Increased Sanitation: We will continue to implement increased sanitation protocols, which includes—but isn’t limited to—hand sanitizer stations, disinfecting pens and payment terminals between use, and other elevated custodial protocols.

Please note, the Gitanmaax Band Office will not be opened to the Public; all the required Protective Measures are in place for the safety of all.

This message will be Posted for our Membership:

“We would like to thank you for your patience as we adjust to these “COVID-19 Protective Measures”. However, lineups may occur, but be assured, the staff will do everything we can to help you as quickly—and safely—as possible. Remember, if you’re not comfortable or sick, please stay home, we are still available to help you online(email) or over the phone.”

This has been a very trying time for us all. Remember to remain calm, keeping your circles small, wearing masks when social distancing isn’t possible, washing your hands regularly or hand sanitize, and staying home when you are not feeling well.

We look forward to your support as we operate under this “new normal.”

Stay safe & Stay healthy!

COVID-19 Community Update:

Everyone has been directed to wear a mask in all Gitanmaax owned and operated businesses. We also recommend that they respect physical/social distancing rules throughout the visit. Wash your hand/hand sanitize.

“Remember to remain calm, keeping your circles small, wearing masks when social distancing isn’t possible, washing your hands regularly or hand sanitize, and staying home when you are not feeling well.”
