Social Work Team Lead:


The Social Work Team Lead will provide clinical guidance and supervision to the Social Work team, ensuring compliance with child welfare laws and Gitxsan traditions.


Responsibilities include staff recruitment, case management consultation, program enhancement, and cultural support. The role also involves overseeing data collection and analysis, community engagement, and reporting. The Team Lead will play a crucial role in enhancing services for Gitanmaax children and families through a family-centered approach.


Requirements include a Bachelor or Masters degree (preferably in social services), 2 years supervisory experience in child welfare setting, and demonstrated knowledge of Gitxsan Wellness Model.


Valid BC Driver's License and clear criminal record checks are mandatory.

Wage range: $49-57/ hour dependent on education and experience.


Prevention Team Lead:


The Prevention Team Lead is responsible for supervising and providing clinical consultation to the Prevention team, including the Family Empowerment Workers and promoting a strengths- based and cultural approach to services for Gitanmaax children and families. The successful candidate will also participate in the Gitanmaax Child Welfare Committee, and develop relationships with community partners.


The position requires a strong understanding of Gitxsan culture and the Gitxsan Wellness Model, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience in leadership, and child welfare. The incumbent will work in an office environment, occasionally working and traveling outside of the assigned work site. The position involves working with families facing challenges, which may occasionally involve exposure to difficult situations.


Valid driver’s license and criminal record checks are mandatory.

Wage range: $43-57/ hour dependent on education and experience


First Nations Representative:


The First Nations Representative will provide direct clinical and consultative services to families, enhancing service coordination and developing innovative strategies to collaborate with families. The incumbent will work closely with Gitanmaax children and their families who are involved in court system or at risk of being placed under the care of the Ministry for Children & Family Development (MCFD).


The position requires a strong understanding of Gitxsan culture, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and experience in child welfare. The First Nations Representative will also provide referrals to other supportive social services. Key responsibilities include completing assessments, making referrals, and developing care plans, as well as maintaining accurate client case files and providing educational sessions and workshops. The Band Designate will work closely with community partners and stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes for Gitanmaax children and families.


Requirements include 2-year diploma and/or related experience in the social services field, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently with strong organizational and time management skills.


Valid driver’s license and criminal record checks are mandatory.

Wage range: $38-43/hour dependent on education and experience.


Family Preservation Worker:


The Family Preservation Worker will provide hands-on assistance and education to families involved with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). The successful candidate will work with families to develop and implement care plans, provide referrals to other services, and promote family stability through a family-centered approach. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Gitxsan culture and be able to work effectively with Indigenous families.


Responsibilities include providing support and education to families in areas such as parenting, communication, and life skills; developing and implementing care plans with families; making referrals to other services as needed; and working closely with Gitanmaax children and their families who are involved with MCFD. The position involves working with families facing challenges, which may occasionally involve exposure to difficult situations.


Requirements include a 2-year diploma and/or related experience in the social services field; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and the ability to work independently with strong organizational and time management skills.

Wage range: $32-36/ hour dependent on education and experience.


Family Empowerment:


The Family Empowerment Worker (FEW) - Men's Mentorship - is responsible for assisting men in Gitanmaax who desire guidance to move forward with personal growth.


The FEW will provide a supportive environment for goal planning, skill building, and personal development. The role involves working with men to identify and achieve goals, provide referrals, and offer education and modeling techniques to empower them. The FEW will work collaboratively with other departments to design and deliver programs, advocate for the rights of individuals and families, and provide administrative support.


The position requires a strong understanding of Gitxsan culture and traditional healing practices, as well as effective communication and interpersonal skills. The FEW will work closely with case managers, social workers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to family support.

Wage range: $32-36/ hour dependent on education and experience.
